I am a Court lawyer with 38 years experience who has done over 3,000 cases in the Courts and Tribunals of New Zealand. I have experience in the District Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and a wide range of administrative Tribunals.
A key feature of my law practice is that clients can communicate directly with me rather than through layers of staff. The personal touch reduces client stress and increases the cost effectiveness of the services I provide. I strive to produce a good result at the earliest possible time.
I hold the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (1974) and Bachelor of Laws (1980) from the University of Otago. I completed the Law Professionals Course in 1980 and was admitted to the Bar in that year. I was awarded the New Zealand Law Society Litigation Skills Diploma in 1987. I was elected a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2018.
I am a published author and my most recent book is Umberto Nobile and the Arctic Search for the Airship Italia (Fonthill, 2017). I regularly contribute articles to New Zealand aviation magazines.
I have wide experience of the law as it affects operators and pilots. This includes fit and proper person issues, advocacy in and out of the courtroom and advice and case management.
I have worked in the industry and hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) and a 'B' category instructor rating and have 3,000+ hours pilot in command. I also hold a Qualified Glider Pilot Certificate and 'C' category glider instructor rating and a glider towing rating.
