There is one type of offending which catches out otherwise law abiding citizens. That is drink driving (also known as excess breath alcohol, excess blood alcohol, drink driving or DUI- driving under the influence). A failure or refusal to supply a breath sample and/or blood sample results in a conviction with the same penalties.

A conviction has a number of serious consequences. A fine and a minimum mandatory 6 month disqualification may be just the start. The more serious ca...ses result in a longer disqualification.  All these offences are imprisonable and repeat offenders do go to prison.

You must inform your insurer, who will up your premium and may decline to re-insure you.

A conviction may result in difficulties obtaining certain types of employment.

I advise all drivers facing a drink driving charge to, at the minimum, taking legal advice before the first court appearance.
